What is the Students’ Union?
The students union is made up of every full time registered student in the Institute. The executive of the union are officers elected by the student body to ensure that the Union and college life run as smoothly as possible for the students on a daily basis.

They have been elected by the student population and would like to both congratulate and welcome all students into the college. They are available to you anytime and will deal with any problems or queries you may have. They are generally available Monday to Friday 10.00 to 17.00 hrs, but can be contacted outside these hours if needed.

The other elected part time officers cover areas such as two entertainment officers, internal and external, a clubs and societies officer and an equality officer. All seven officers are here for you the student.

Where is the Students Union?
The Students union is located in a purpose built complex behind the bicycle compound close to the pedestrian entrance to the institute. The office is open from Monday to Friday and anyone with any questions, queries, problems, complaints, or suggestions is welcome to visit at any time.

What are the class representatives?
Every class will elect a class representative at the beginning of the year whose role is to work for the interests and needs of the students in their class. The class rep is the link between the class and the institute authorities, the lecturers, and the student union. Remember the class rep should not necessarily be the most popular person in the class rather the person that will represent the class the best.

Do students get involved in charity work or with the local community groups?
Yes, each year the student union makes a point of supporting both local and national charities. In the past many charities have been helped and last year over €12,000 was given out to a variety of charities.
